The North Carolina High Country is the northern part of the western (mountain) region of the state. It includes Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, Blowing Rock, Boone, Burnsville, Jefferson, Linville, North Wilkesboro, Sparta, Spruce Pine, Sugar Mountain, and West Jefferson.
The Blue Ridge Parkway also meanders through the High Country – a must see with some of the most beautiful views on the planet! There are many places to visit such as Grandfather Mountain, Mount Jefferson park, the Linn Cove Viaduct, Tweetsie Railroad, the Highland Games, as well as great restaurants and shops in these towns. There is camping, hiking, and fishing in the summer and skiing in the winter. The sky is the limit!
