Locally made. Locally owned. Made in America. Words and phrases that many people don’t think about when buying products. However, these words, and the idea behind them, are very important to me! Supporting American owned and American made companies and products is good for businesses and good for our economy. Why wouldn’t you want to buy quality products made here over cheap goods made overseas…..? Exactly. There is no good reason!
Another locally made item I really enjoy is Rewined Candles. I first found Rewined in the market in Charleston, SC. My favorites, Chardonnay and seasonal Spiked Cider are warm, buttery scents that evoke feelings of fall, although I enjoy them year-round. Last weekend while visiting shops in Southern Pines, I was excited when I found the shop carrying these candles. I got a good sniff of the Sangria. What a great summer scent! Fresh and fruity, it makes you want to whip up a pitcher of sangria and chill out on the patio. The best part? Besides being made of soy and smelling heavenly, they are locally made in Charleston and the containers are repurposed wine bottles, hence the name ReWined. Ingenious!! The moral of this story? Buy local and bottoms up!
