Hanging Out in the Treetop with Swiss Family Robinson at WDW

Hi! I’m Mindy, a PA Yankee living in North Carolina, the mom of a 21 year old son and furry Princess, Daphne. I’m a southern transplant by way of the military and the south has become my home away from home for the last 18 years. It wasn’t always easy, but now I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I’m a lover of Southern culture, sweet tea, homemade pasta, food, traveling, mills and abandoned places!  Single again, I’m on a journey of self-rediscovery and finding new hobbies.  I’m still a work-in-progress seeking to beef up my gardening, painting, photography, and cooking skills, all while exploring the land of sweet tea one small town at a time. I’d love to share my experiences with you. Come and join me for a spell!

  1. Hey Mindy, seems we have a lot in common! I went to school in Pennsylvania and consider myself a yankee even though I grew up around the world as a Navy Junior. Now we live in North Carolina, so I’m a yankee in the south as well.
    So glad to ‘meet’ you!

    Hugs, Lynn

    • Hi Lynn!

We do seem to have a lot in common! It’s good to meet a fellow Yankee in the land of sweet tea. I’ve lived here so long that NC is really my home, although I’ll always be from Bucks County, PA! I love reading your blog BTW, and the oyster shell clusters are so beautiful.

  2. I just read your piece on Cataloochee via their facebook post. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I am glad you enjoy the South, sometimes folks don’t know what to make of it (or us) but happily that is the exception, not the case. I think I will be a frequent visitor to your blog, it is very entertaining.

    • Hi Judy!

Thank you so much for the compliment! I truly love my adopted state of NC and love nothing more than sharing how wonderful it is here. I think people make a lot of assumptions and don’t try to keep an open mind when they come to visit or live, which makes me sad. North Carolina has so much to offer: great people, delicious food, and beautiful places to visit and I’m trying to see as many places as I can. I hope to hear from you again!
