Glaze King Donuts, Asheboro

A glass cases stuffed with fresh donuts. Which one will you pick?

You think you know good donuts when you taste them, and to be fair, Krispy Kreme is pretty awesome. But if you want a real, melt in your mouth donut and you’re near Asheboro, home of the North Carolina Zoo, just up the road a ways from StarWorks Center for Creative Enterprise, you’ll want to stop by Glaze King Donuts.

A tasty, glazed bear claw.

Glaze King Donuts is a small, family owned donut shop. They have every donut you can think of in their cases. People are usually lined up to the door and locals love ’em. Who am I to argue with the locals?

A sugar rise twist – the twisty version of my favorite.

I wouldn’t argue anyway because these donuts are seriously decadent. Nothing crazy, nothing fancy, but every bit[e] as delicious. They are made on site every day, all day. My favorite is the sugar rise, the donut holes melt in your mouth, and people rave about the apple fritters. Honestly, you can’t go wrong!

A few favorites for the road! They’re a perfect road trip bite.
